Secret- Pumpkin Pal

Ok MOPS Moms
This is where you will post your comments anytime you hear from your Pumpkin Pal. We will reveal who our Pumpkin Pal is at the next
MOPS meeting Oct. 28th.
A Reminder of Pumpkin Pal Rules:
1.Be sure to contact your Secret Pal at LEAST once a week. Including this week. You can snail mail them, or send them ecards.
When you email your Secret Pal, be sure to use an email address they are not familiar with. Do NOT use your normal email address, as this will give your identity away. You can set up a free email account at Yahoo or Hotmail. (Be creative: boo2you, veryscarypal etc.
2. At the next MOPS meeting bring a little something for your Secret-Pal. Should NOT exceed $5.00. Be creative! =)
3. Post a comment anytime you have heard from your secret-pal. Please make sure you do this every time. It can be discouraging when you are taking the time to send your secret-pal a message or card and then don’t hear anything back. So please just a post a quick thank you or message.
4. And finally, enjoy the process! This is a great way to be fun and creative, and to make new friends!
A couple of ideas:
- Send them your favorite Halloween recipe.
-Your Favorite Pumpkin Patch that you enjoy going to with your family.
-A Halloween Joke
Have fun and be CREATIVE~ This is a time to get to know each other!

Reward yourself for being all that God has called you to be.

This is an article that I came across and thought you might enjoy- written by Bonnie Hooley

Calm the Chaos Bonnie Hooley, October 2008
“…Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.” —Numbers 13:30, KJV

I have been giving some thought to the modern woman. When my mom got married the expectation for a woman that was working was to quit her job and look after her home. An employer was shocked if she wanted to continue working. With the advent of modern technology and household appliances the employer today would be shocked by the woman who wanted to stay home and look after her spouse.
By the time I married the bar had been raised. A woman had options. She could be a homemaker and devote her life to raising children or she could get a career as a professional. The woman who tried both was frowned upon by society for not devoting herself wholly to her profession of choice.
The world is different for the modern woman. Society expects her to be a homemaker AND work, even if she is single. For many there is no option of being the stay at home mom, either out of deference to her spouse or for financial reasons.
I have great admiration for the efforts of today’s woman. She is expected to be the Proverbs 31 woman day in and day out. I hear the exhaustion of these women daily.
I have two important messages for this modern woman.
First, you are not alone. Jesus promises that He will never leave us or forsake. He has left us the gift of his Holy Spirit to be our comfort and guide. He is our ever present friend in time of trouble. Those that wait upon Him will renew their strength. He is the same God yesterday today and forever. He knew this time in history would come and has prepared a way for you that you may be able to endure it. We will not only endure but have been made more than conquerors!
My second piece of advice is Lemonade Ice Cream cake, which is as delicious as it sounds! It's quick to make and serve and can be savored in the two minutes you get to yourself in a day. Remember to take a few minutes each day to recharge your batteries. After you have spent time with God in reading and prayer, spend time with you.
Pour a cup of hot tea and enjoy a slice of Lemonade Ice Cream Cake. Reward yourself for being all that God has called you to be. Enjoy your calm in the chaos as you savor the succulence of each mouthful.

Welcome to my little world of blogging.

As you can tell I am a Mother of 2 children ~ Hunter & Taylor. I am truly enjoying raising my children with the help of my husband and most importantly with the guidance and love of God. We are given such an amazing gift from God with our children. Many times I feel as though it gets taken for granted. My husband and I have been married now for 8 years. He is an incredible husband and an amazing Father. We continue to grow in our Faith and relationship with God everyday. We have acquired some great friends through the grace of God. Friends that are more of an extended family. Our extended family continues to grow through our church- Olive Knolls. We are part of the SNC family which we enjoy so much! When my husband and I started attending Saturday nights at O.K. we were blown away at how genuine everyone was. We had never felt so welcomed as we were by a church before. Olive Knolls will always have a place in our hearts as it has deepened our relationship with God in more ways than we will probably know! So I encourage anyone who hasn't felt like they have found a good church family- to come on a Sat. night! The music is amazing! It's an accoustic like coffee lounge setting. Very laid back which is a great way to get your feet wet. If you are used to the more traditional music and service then I would reccomend you try a Sunday morning. Either way just try it! If you ever want to go on a Sat. night let me know and I will save you a seat! They do have child care available too on Sat. nights up to the age of 5. Sat. nights 6:00 p.m.

Well I started this blog for the other moms at our MOPS table to get better connected! So I hope this will get us all in that direction and grow together as moms and women of God. I leave now with one of my favorite sayings from SNC.

God is looking for ordinary people to do extraordinary things...

One person matters! One can make a difference! One has Power!

"When we reach out to just one person in Jesus' name, we change the world."
What can you do today?
